District 8 is Central Park, Northfield, North and Northeast Park Hill, and parts of East Colfax and Montbello. I'd argue it's the best district in the city (but maybe I'm biased). Still, City Hall can do a lot more for the people who live here.

Talk to almost anyone in the district and you'll hear the same worry: it costs more to stay every year. Rent goes up, home prices go up, property taxes go up, and there is nowhere near enough housing people can actually afford. Families who have been here for generations are getting pushed out.

East Colfax needs investment, but the kind that keeps the people and businesses already here. Shops along the corridor have spent years dealing with construction, and they need real help getting through it, not a corridor rebuilt for someone else.

Every neighborhood deserves to feel secure, and safety comes from meeting public need through investment: lit streets and parks, programs that give young people somewhere to go, and help that shows up when a neighbor is in crisis. That's how we take care of East Colfax and Central Park for the people who call them home.

Getting around should be easy and safe for everyone. We need safer crossings, bike lanes with real protection, and sidewalks that don't just end, especially along Quebec.

When neighbors helped write the East Area Plan, they were clear about what matters to them: keep the mature trees, add green space, fix up the neighborhood parks, and get ready for hotter summers and heavier storms. I take that seriously.

District 8 has a long history of fighting for the people this city has underinvested in. I want to carry that forward: better access to healthcare, cleaner air and water, neighborhoods you can walk in, and real progress for communities that have gone without for generations.

None of this is us versus them. It's the work we have to do if we want everyone here to thrive.
